I have been a customer of 1and1 for almost 7 years now and I'm a satisfied customers. With affordable pricing and a vast array of software, I found out 1and1 deserve five stars for their services and efficiency. As a web designer, I often recommend their package to my customers, it's easy, fair and reliable! 1and1 offers a great support whether it is through their documentation or phone service. I have been working with customers who had their domains hosted for free or through other competitive companies and in my opinion 1and1 offers a superior relation price/ quality. As a note, I'm part of the Joomla community, I develop using their open source framework as well as code igniter, wordpress and drupal and find 1and1 to be fully compatible, never had any problem!

1 & 1 is terrible. I called them to order a hosting package. I was very specific in describing what program I was going to use to build the site, and what the site was going to be used for (Wordpress, and downloading music mixes). I nice guy described what I needed and priced me out. A few hours later l called to purchase the package, and was told by another representative that Wordpress was not supported with that package, that I needed a different more expensive package. Ok fine. But then he told me that they do not allow streaming the music mixes, which the previous guy told me was ok. Alright fine, so I clarify about downloading the mixes. He tells me if anyone was to download my mixes, that my site would be taken down, my hosting package canceled, and my money not refunded, and I would still have to pay for the remaining of the contract. They almost duped me into signing a 12 month contract and purchasing a package which they knew I could not even use for what I intended for the site. A bunch of idiots working there, especially after I spoke with the supervisor.
